Why unlocking TDMA & CDMA? - GSM-Forum

I was wondering why do we unlock TDMA and CDMA phones??
is that just like GSM if we unlock it then we can use it one other network?
and is that possible to unlock it without cable (nokia phones & other).

if anyone know please let me know.

Unlock TDMA/CDMA phones means to obtain and maybe reset to 000000 the SPC (Service Programming Code) with the purpouse of gain access to the NAM program menu of the phone and change network settings.

Now make a CDMA phone work in another network is not that easy as exchange SIM cards, you need to upload (usually with a cable) a file call PRL which tell the phone what towers to look for in order to get the provider signal; TDMA phones uses a simplest method to find towers but need to adjust the settings properly to make the phone work.

Some companies put a MIN/SOC lock to the phone which make it harder to unlock but others don't lock their phones.

i have two nokia 3360 one from cingular and other from at&t. can you tell me how to unlock it step by step? and where can i find the prl program, and is that any software that i can use the send the file to my phone with infered?? and how to set the NAM to unlock the phone?
