3310 witch cobba ID 00000. how to repair??

It came with the 4 locks closed, I opened them like you all already know...
I didn't realise before fixing it, but now it has cobba id 00000 in nk_calc and eeprom tools. The phone never finds network.

Is it software or hardware problem? How to fix it?

Regards,
Mike

I have come up with this kind of problem,

COBBA say on nk_calc 000000, i tried dBugs solution and worked fine but still i have to watch for it 3 to 5 days from now.

Simply take off cobba chip clean connections and take back... hope this help yours.

Cobba ID: 00000

Apply some flux and rehot cobba chip.......fails?

Desolder cobba chip, reball, clean pcb, and resolder back the chip........still fails?

Install new chip and run nk_calc. That's it.

Of course nobody will know that! Some people here have never seen
open PCB with his own eyes. 3310 COBBA is located above the flash chip that you should definitely see at the bottom of scheme.
On newer versions it is underfilled so no cure!!!

with cobba ID 00000, you can soimetimes get it to work, the problem you will face is, this ID is generated cause the cobba is misreporting itself, & that is usually cause one of the connectors under it is cracked or is a bad connection, so when pressing the keys on the phone, sometimes you will cause the cobba to act normally & report it's true ID, so you will lose the network & have to recalculate, reheating should make it work,

i have not yet seen an underfilled cobba, & if they do exist, then i would say this is a cure from nokia themselves to solve the contact service problem, i verymuch doubt seeing an underfilled cobba with cobba ID 00000.

Hi

Yes I agree with you that COBBA can be either damaged or connectors under it cracked. But underfilled COBBA are in use long time ago. It is not visible as in MAD2. When looking at COBBA you don`t see it but after removing COBBA most of the times it is mostly impossible to replace it back. Even in official Nokia manuals it is abbreviated with the words like "unchangable" or "irrepairable". Unfortunately, I don`t know from which hardware versions Nokia started to apply these.

Before a machine called "BGA Soldering Machine" can resolder and replace all the chips (except MAD2) on the Nokia PCB. But now, this machine is almost powerless. There is an underfilling material which tightly subpresses chip and plate to each other, creating a vacuum within them. Because of this vacuum, solderings under the chip form special shape by which they perfectly stick to the conduction points (called as balls, but originally there is no such a ball, they are created when you remove the chip) on the PCB. Taking the chip will cause the vacuum to disappear and you can never create it again. Unfortunately, this is a fact!

In this case, only slight reflowing of COBBA can help us! If it is not underfilled, you can replace it as well
