Member: 4215 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | 5110 partial display missing I have a 5110 with a partial display missing (usually on the right side of the LCD). I have a hint that's it's an elastomer problem. I tried cleaning the elastomer with alcohol but still the same problem. Is there a good solution to fix this or do i really need to replace the elastomer? Thanks.. |

Member: 2868 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 514 | Hi All Nokia displays use I2C interface, plus some additional signals like Power, LCDenable ...
If only half of display is in working condition that means it is broken and you have to replace it Regards
Daniel |

Member: 6156 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | Hmmm... it's I2C? Where can I get some info on the pinout/protocol? What "chat" must take place on the I2C bus? (reset control, contrast, pixel turn on/off, etc...)... It'd make a nice cheap display to use on a box project I'm working on Hope it's not custom made for Nokia... or, if it is, that the protocol is known somewhere.. |

Member: 2868 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 514 | Hi Alf I do not know whether the display is a custom made or not. Philips is giving the address for each device which uses I2C. Is you can find something on their site would bi nice, but I doubt it. Best is to use I2C scaner and get the communication just by yourself. Well it will not be easy, but at least you will be the only one to have it and shear it after that with us .
If you do not have sevice manuals, mail me for which phone you need schematic and I will send it to you. The display is properly explained.
I must have somehere a link for I2C scaning, and and the software as well, but my PC is a bit messy. I will look for that and post it later on. Regards
Daniel |

Member: 6156 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | Thanks a LOT This weekend I'll pick my Nokia Service manuals and start working on it Hehehe... my primary goal will be using a 16F84, 3 Dallas temperature sensors... a small keypad... I'll be building a controlled thermostate for 3 aquariums with temperature setting and display A nice display using only 2 lines from the PIC will be GREAT! And it'll be able to share the I2C lines with the sensors What a nice solution for aquarium stores... And a cheap one too Ooopss... going a bit off topic here, ehehehehe Catch you later |
