Member: 871 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 602 | 9210 Tips and Trick #1 and #2 Warning, these tricks may require expert knowledge
in basic file system of 9210. If you are not sure
what you are doing, please do not attempt to play
with your VERY EXPENSIVE PHONE! I am not liable
foe any damages or accidents that will occur by
following my tips below. You do this at your own
risk and disgretion. SO please, backup your data
first! Here are 2 very useful tips that will make your
9210 a better phone Tip # 1: Java-applet Enabled Browsers
The built-in 9210 Internet Browser is not capable
of viewing java-appletpages But you can easily
enable is by adding the Web folder below to
x:\system\apps Download Web folder from:
http://users.anytimenow.com/sid67b/web9210.zip After putting the Web folder in your phone's
file system, will be able run java applets
separately from the web pages! Sometimes you
need to reboot your phone and delete web.ini
file found at x:\system\apps\web\ directory
in order for the java applets to run. You have
to delete web.ini after every reboot so that
java applets will still run by default. Note that not all applets are runable using the
9210 because some applets need too big memory or
the display area of the 9210 is not enough for it.
Sometimes the lack of a mouse will also render
the applets unusable Anyway, I found a guitar
tuner applets that works 100% with the 9210!
Download it here:
http://users.anytimenow.com/sid67b/9210guitar.zip
The controls are Tab to change the string number
and the cursor keys to make the string sound. To close the java applets that are running, you
need the Switcher program which you can download
at http://www.my-communicator.com/9210/index_eng.htm ... Java applets takes about 500k+ of memory to run,
so don't expect to run 2 java applets at the
same time because your system will surely hang!
Tip # 2: Changing the side panel graphics.
The 9210 has only 5 basic side panel patterns:
Plain + Wheels + Sand + Water + Leaves.
If you want to change this manually, you have to
make a bitmap file with a resolution of 130 X 200.
Save that file into a jpeg and send it to your
phone's x:\documents. Now open the file using
your phone and choose 'Save as...' and then use
the filename 'display.mbm' (it is important to
put the .mbm file extension). Before setting up
the side panel to your new personal graphics, you
must set it up at Control Panel to 'Wheels' or
else your personal graphics will not be displayed.
Restart you phone, and then go to
x:\system\data
You will see a file there named display.mbm,
rename this file into displayback.mbm. Now copy
your graphics which you named display.mbm earlier
into this folder. Then restart your phone. Now
your new graphics will be shown Do not attempt
to change the graphics using Control Panel options
into Sand, Water or anything else, you must leave
this settings to 'Wheels'. If you wish to restore
your old side panel graphics, delete your
display.mbm and rename your old displayback.mbm
to display.mbm and restart you phone
Do you want more? Trick your friends into believing that your 9210
has Windows 98 installed in it. Download my
wallpaper here
http://users.anytimenow.com/sid67b/9210win98.zip
and put it up as your wallpaper Best Regards,
X-Shadow [ 26 November 2001 02:34: Message edited by: X-Shadow ] |
