so you are saying that within the mcu there is some reference to the ppm pack it was originally flashed with? That does not make sense as you can attach any ppm to a particular mcu file.

e.g on brads page u can download mcu(say 5.56) then additionally ppm A B C D....

obviously ppm is specific to the mcu, but not the other way round.
methinks u must flash mcu and ppm together.

regards

Dan

PPM has to be the same version as MCU version. No matter what PPM it is (A, B, C...) but has to be same version as MCU version. Example: You can not flash MCU v5.30 with PPM pack v5.29 (even if not changing PPM pack!) You can flash MCU only if you are not down/upgrading phone and for this you do not need FAID calc...

My experience on this:

I upgraded my 8210 to v5.30 MCU. I did not want to change PPM Pack (was D) so I flashed only MCU. The result was phone in "Contact Service" - this should be obvious because the PPM pack it had was for v5.29 MCU (remember that I flashed only MCU) So I tried Kociīs Logger and uploaded calculated log to phone. Logger replied "eep updated" or something like that... Result was still "Contact Service"! But it said phone was updated... So I flashed only PPM pack (pack D for v5.30) and phone was 100% and already updated. Log made correct updating of phone with MCU v5.30 and PPM from a v5.29 phone before I flashed correct PPM pack for version v5.30 (remember both were PPM D and addresses are the same). To update phone, it seems, that from PPM itīs only needed what PPM pack it is but not what version... (did not try different PPM packs!)

Regards

Hi,

Just thinking, can not test myself.
Maybe try this for experiment:

No network
>> this should be obvious because the PPM pack it >> had was for v5.29 MCU (remember that I flashed >> only MCU)

==this should be obvious because the PPM pack had still old MCU checksum(last bytes inside PPM area.

So if only MCU renewal requires also the MCU Checksum to be changed I think.

Then test 430MCU & 429PPM, Hopefully this works.
