contact service nokia 3210 - GSM-Forum

Hi everybody,

After 2 years of normal operation, one morning when switching on the "contact service" message appeared. If after several trials it turns on normally, then in just about 30 seconds switches off, again.

Has anybody got any such bad experience with Nokia 3210? What should I do to make it work again? Nokia service is out of question because they are so expensive I can buy a new 3310 on sale for their repair price.

I am interested in solving this problem all by myself with your kind assistance!

So, any good advice is highly appreciated!

Hi

I also had a 3210 with the exact same problem.
What i did was, i ran NK_CALC and repaired the eeprom (F1), it removed the contact service, and the fone worked perfect.

If that doesn't work, then all you have to do is flash the fone with a repair flash or full flash (calculate FAID after that), and your fone will be back to normal.

NOT VERY GOOD ADVICE,"CAUSE YOU FIRST HAVE TO ESTABLISH IF "CONTACT SERVICE " IS HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE FAULT.YOU CAN DO THIS WITH EEPROM TOOLS BY B-PHREAKS.

HOW?

1 - POWER UP PHONE TILL IT DISPLAYS 'CONTACT SERVICE'
2 - CONNECT PHONE TO CABLE
3 - CLICK TEST CHECK BOX
4 - PROGRAM WILL SHOW THE REASON FOR 'CONTACT SERVOCE'
5 - NOW YOU CAN TELL IF IT'S HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE

HINT:
1- IF PROGGIE SHOWS E.G 'EEPROM TUNE CHECKSUM TEST FAILED',YOU KNOW THAT CHECKSUM VALUES IN EEPROM NOT O.K.SO YOU REPAIR EEPROM CHECKSUM
2 - IF PROGGIE SHOWS E.G 'CCONT INTERFACE TEST FAILED',IT'S A FAULTY CCONT I.C,ETC,ETC.
3 - BLA BLA BLA BLA
4 - YOUR PHONE IS FIXED

Many thanks! It seems to be working! After the test the message was: "CCONT INTERFACE TEST FAILED! PLEASE REPAIR THE PHONE FIRST!"

Unfortunately, I am a complete novice in GSM so I badly need further guidance! Is it an IC failure or software? How to
proceed? Can I make it without going to service?

Your further help is very precious. Thanks once, again and I am looking forward to receiveing further instructions!

Hi,

It is a software problem. Find the program EEPROM TOOLS BY B-PHREAKS on the Net. Apply it to your phone step by step as advised, but first for further advice contact directly Mujie, he seems to be an expert in this issue.

You have to REFLOW your CCONT IC using a hot air rework station and good flux to restore broken/cold soldering under CCONT IC.

@ boy 2000
You can repair eprom tune checksum of 32, by reprogramming the 24c128 eprom using an external eprom programmer and software.
