Angry Emulated EEPROM and Hardware EEPROM

i dont really get the concept behind emulated eeproms. in a hardware eeprom (6110, 5110, etc), details such as imei, locks, sec code are stored within the eeprom. but what about for 6210, 3310 and others? i heard the eeprom are emulated. so does this mean the fone does not physically have the eeprom? and so if settings are made, are they within the mcu sw?

PKS, you are right! In 6210, 3310, 8210, 8850, 8890 ... is no eeprom, it is emulated in Flashrom, behind the PPM-Package! For example 6210 has 4 MB Flashrom, the ppm-package ends at 005A, and from 005A begins the emulated eeprom area! And this is great, so we can try to manipulate the eeprom, without desolder it! :-)

Thatīs it!

Greetings MR...
