flasher cable <-> MBUS only cable?

I know only a MBUS cable will work on software like nk_calc. I don't know how to build one myself. I have a flasher cable: a LPT to PS/2 cable, as well as a COM to PS/2 cable plus whatever phone connectors. I know it's auto switching. I disassemble it and see 4 wires: blue, white, red and black.

So if I short white and blue wires I should get a MBUS only cable right? But will shorting these two wires work as flashing cable too?

I opened the adapter and was trying to short those two pins with a aluminium foil (because I don't want to screw up the wires) and it doesn't work. I guess I didn't do it properly. I was thinking just to cut out those two wires =P but no, I still want it as it was.

What is a good way to short the wires/pins so I can still have the adapters for flashing.

Short the pins on the COM cable:D

I did mine by cutting the end of a manual switch cable and soldering to a db-9 connector and the using an old serial to ps2 mouse converter. It should be quite easy to work out the pins, I haven't got mine here so I can't check. Works a treat!

So you mean by modifying the cable instead of the adapters. It's a good idea and I think I need to find a PS/2 cable first. I am looking at a diagrams about the PS/2 male and female connectors but I am not sure if they are right. The pins are like inverted for male and female connectors... I assume they are right?

I am looking at http://gsmsearch.com/faq/nokiaflasher.html

thanks. I tried it but the MBUS cable that I mde only works on logomanager (with MBUS setting) and nokiatool035 but not in nk_calc or rolis 1.5b

tried the same phone (8290) with the self made cable, no luck. But with another M/FBUS mannual switching cable works fine without external power... ???

do I need to worry about what goes to the Tx and Rx of the phone? because I cut out the Tx,Rx and MBUS in the cable. combined Tx and Rx to MBUS of the phone. Nothing to Rx or Tx to phone.... And MBUS = M2BUS?

PS the cable I am modifying is a flasher cable with PS/2 adapter.
