Exclamation Have seen Nokia 6150's SPUnlocked + IMEI Change without and cables!!

Hi,

I currently work in a mobile phone shop as assistant manager.

As we are not a service centre, we do NOT unlock phones. However, two days ago a 'freelance repair' man, offered his services for unlocking, and I decided to put him to the test.

Now, I have sp-unlocked nokia's via fbus/mbus cable at home using software and I know it works. I also know that you cannot change IMEI numbers without a TDF-4 security flash box (only available to NOkia Service Centres!).

This repair man claimed he could do it with no specialised equipment whatsoever, for a fee of £20 (UK Pounds)!!!

I had a blocked 6150 I had bought privately, and gave it to him to both sp-unlock and unbar so as I could make calls.

I saw him take a U shaped pin from his toolkit, he connected/shorted out two contacts on the 6150 and at the same time pressed certain keys on the pad, and he unlocked and unbarred the phone. However he told me I could no longer use it with the original one2one service provider, but fine with any other.

And he was right, to my amazement it worked!!!

I didn't pay close enough attention to how he did it, and he was too fast, else I'd try it myself.

Since then he has also unblocked(IMEI) an Ericsson ph388 by opening the phone and connecting two or more pins/points together.

Does anyone know how the hell this is done or even possible????

From everything I know it should not be this easy or even possible to unblock or sp-unlock phones.

Cool

Hmmm...

Well looks can be deceiving, but I hate to
inform you KingOfKingston that that freelance
repair man just unlocked your phone and did
not actually changed the IMEI. If he did
change the IMEI then you should be able to
use it with your original one2one provider
because your phones will get a new clean
identity. Since you still cannot use it with
one2one, it is obvious that he only unlocked
your phone. Maybe he used a clip to do it
and so he didn't need a PC.

But a CLIP does not look like a 'U-bar'
metal as most of you know so maybe this guy
had another technique. (Maybe he just
activated 'Car' and 'Headset' profiles by
shorting pins 4,5, 6 ... )

The logic here is, why would Nokia
manufacture special programming boxes and
sell them for very expensive prices if IMEI
change can be done easily with a paperclip
used to short the pins...

I am not really sure, maybe this is one of
the deepest darkest secrets of Nokia that
Nokia itself doesn't know!

Best Regards,
Linuz
