Post IMEI question

Hi yall, just wondered if it is possible to change the IMEI in a full flash backup so it is useful for repairing phones. I have acquired 2 7110's which have been full flashed with different IMEI's and so won't accept any SIM (I'm assuming that this is a security feature of nokia's). If it is possible to put the original IMEI's back in, will that get around the security?

Is it possible to hex edit the .fls and put in the original IMEI of the phone?

Cheers

Sarge

if you don't have the full back up, even if you change the imei in the replaced flash files, the condition of no network will still be the same.

These phones were given to me as *dead* phones. I have no backups from them. Shall I use them for spares?

Plus

Can anyone explain (simply) why once the IMEI has been 'overwritten' the phone will not accept sim cards. I would have thought that putting the original IMEI back into the phone woould have kept any checksums happy?

I'm a bit green at this so go easy on me please

use them as spares or sell them to scrap. The prob lies in the Flash Authority ID.

Ey! A bit more info

When a phone is switched on, this unqiue IMEI number is transmitted and checked against a database of blacklisted or greylisted phones in the network's EIR (Equipment ID Register).

This EIR determines whether the phone can log onto the network to make and receive calls.

Thanks EckoMan,

I realise that this is the case, however, with the phone not accepting ANY sim card, it is unlikely to even get to the stage of trying to log on to a network.

Thanks Anyway

When you put full flash to 7110 (00200000-00600000) the original emulated eeprom area is owerwritten.
The phone working only own eeprom content!Impossible to clone. Don't accept sim card, no network...
Only Dejan 1.04+box or Nokia Service Cennter
