Joining mcu with ppm - GSM-Forum

hi, ive herd it can be done, jus want to know how to join them so i can upgrade n downgrade with jus the 1 file, i have hex workshop 3.11

Just need 2 know how to join mcu and ppm up

open up both files in hex editor a copy then paste the ppm onto the end of the mcu.

u can also do same job using dos commands, but i dont know dos.

hi, tanx 4 the advice,ive tried both,but wen i open it up in rolis, n eror msg keeps cummin up,"file must be oin 64kb"

n e other ideas?

in rolis 5.14
First select phone type
Just press "Load MCU" and "Load PPM" buttons.
Then press UP-arrow button
Save file

if PPMs are made with dejan box you have to delete the first line
with hex editor wich means first 16 bytes then copy the hole ppm and paste to the end of MCU

the ppmz i got was from brads ftp,do these need 2 be cut,i e

first 16 bytes deleted???

Theese files are in WINTESLA format.........
After you joined the 2 files like explained above,open KNOK21,22 and convert the file from WINTESLA to .FLS....
Then use it with rolis.........

You have also Vygis convreter and LEAD convereter .....both working 100%....
Easiest knok21 or 22.......

how can i recognize (using ultraedit for example) if a flash is from wintesla. what are these 16 bytes.

To copy only a region from a file, use

http://www.freeweb.hu/smskuldes/partcopy.exe

Usage:

partcopy source_file dest_file begin lenght

The filenames have to be in MS-DOS format!

e.g.
partcopy wint.fls djn.fls 16 300000

will cut the first 16 bytes from wint.fls and copies 300000 from it to djn.fls

To join two files together use DOS command:

e.g.
copy /b mcu.fls + ppm.fls mcu+ppm.fls

Hope it helps, but if it's too complicated, use some wintesla ->
dejan converter.

if u want to merge mcu and ppm files use Winarm u can download it from the net. Find the link from the fourm.

i finally got it workin 100%

i got n 8210 5.31 mcu

then ppm pack c

opened ppm pack 1st in a hex editor

then went 2 insert file (using hex workshop 3.11)

insterted mcu,so ppm moves 2 the bottom as mcu is opened at the top.

then saved as xxyyzz.fls(including extention)

opened up knok 22,went 2 convert wintesla 2 fls,wen prompt cumz up about selecting ppm file or other file click no,then dats it,it will store the new file as

xxyyzz200000.fls from where ever u opened the original file from.

open it in nfree(mcu chk is bad wen opened up in rolis)

then open up the fls wich knok converted,dnt worry about the eeprom or pmm message.

correct mcu checksum + all ppm cheksums

the use rolis 2 write it!!

Works 100% all the time!!

Upgraded a few already
