M-Bus cable for 5210?

I've just received a cable for my 5210, it says 8210 on it but I've been told it will work fine. I noticed when it arrived that it only had 4 pins on it, and the connector on the phone itself has 5. Is this right? There is a hole in the adapter for another pin but there isn't one in it.

I plugged the phone in and ran the jordic nokia tool, but it says MBUS error or no mobile connected. Am I doing something stupid or was I sold a duff cable? And do I need a SIM in to change the IMEI?

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but I'm new to all this and got no instructions or anything with the cable.

tec-monkey Your not stupid m8 its a nightmare to get cables that work with this phone, I got my set that work from, www.faceoffmobiles.com, to be fair i do have to fiddle around on occasions but they work, set has all nokia dct3 and most dct4 for about 50euros. you don't need to have a sim in if you change imei. just rollis nokia tool and eprom tools and a pc that isnt running windows xp (98 is the best)
moosani I'm new and I can make better cables (most times) than I can buy. cheaper to buy nokia but the rest I make.
