PPM is "only" the skin of nokia phones GUI, but MCU is the conroll part for the communication and the hardwer parts.
What do you mean modify MCU? modify the controll over the RF, DSP, LCD ,etc parts? Lower energy consumption or more features like own custum menu or etc. its far too hard way.
Do you really wanna develop softs for the nokia for free)

FORGET IT!

forget it? message alert tones, startup/shutdown tones etc are in the mcu. patching flash files for partial unlocking is done in the mcu, this was done way before "changing menu names". there are plenty of ideas i have for editing mcu and most could be very possible.
example of one idea, it seems very simple all thats needed is time to research; SMS counter like in erricson t68. there is already a byte in the eeprom assigned to keping count of the number of sms messages you have sent, just find out how to call a memory location onto screen (this takes research ) and edit a menu somewhere (maybe some function such as game instructions) to display that value. Nokia have done this themselves, see the 5210 "thermometer". ALL dct3 phones can be used to measure temp, just check in netmonitor.

The program is called PPMedit because the first release could only edit the fonts, which is placed in PPM.

But the latest version can edit both PPM and MCU.
