ok, a tricky question for all nokia 3310 users.

i want to know why 3310 screensavers are not animated but 3330 has screensavers animated. If in case 3310 dont support animation then how come those menus like phone book, messages animate ?

Lets discuss about this in detail in this thread. so, tell me if its possible to animate 3310 screensavers like 3330 if i update my 3310 to 3315 with v7.00.

3330 has bigger memory than 3310 ...that's it ...

it is hardware issue ..

By replacing the Flash and ram from a scraped 3330 you can replace your 3310s flash and ram and have the animations.

i wonder what fun is in that

.. i prefer to play with the BGAs

a friend of mine did and worked 100%

ther is niot so much interest to upgrade a 3310

to anything else. Seems it has lost its hype.

Yes, it's true, yesterday i just change my 3310/15 with 3350 flash ic and ram, and now it is a 3350 already. nice rhythmic backlight alert and animate screen saver.

would any of ye be able to tell me which chip is the eeprom on my 3310? il give it a go at replacing it with the 4mb 3330 one.

oh, dheeraj, the later models of the 3310 came with the same circuit board as the 3330.they just had the 3310 software installed on em. (for commercial reasons) So, u can upgrade it to a 3330. My 3310 is one of d early versions, so i didnt try it, so i dunno if it works for sure.

(edited: I was told later that the 3310 with 4mb memory was just a myth, so no, you cant upgrade a 3310 to 3330> unless you do something like scraping the chip off a broken 3310.Sorry bout that.)

Hiya

100% wrong mate !

I explained before ( read old posts ) and here we go again...

It is possible to upgrade 3310 and 3330 to 3410.

U need new board revision with extra key contacts, new display and flash and ram chip.

Change all of these, put 3410 mcu, ppm, eep and pmm, recalculate checksums and enjoy...

Here is description of ram and flash:

3310 - 2 Mb flash , 1Mbit ram
3310 - 4Mb flash , 2Mbit ram
3410 - 4Mb flash , 4Mbit ram

If You upgrading 3330 then only display and ram have to be changed !
If You have old board revision it could happened that board have 2 adress lines from mcu to ram and flash less. You can add them with thin insulated wire !!!

All above is tested and 100 % working, done at least five times !

uhhmmmm, not pretty sure from 3310 to 3410 eventhough with extra key contacts, it never worked for me....

from 3310-3315
just flash fon
from 3310-3330
change flash and ram, then flash fone with 3330 full flash file
from 3310-3350
luk at the board if it has extra key contacts, if it does then this is possible, change flash and ram, full flash phone with 3350 flash file, change lcd and housing of course

tried changing it to 3410, but phone just turn on for awhile then it goes dead..... these are juz my experience, not tellin u guys to believe me..... kaching!!!!
