Unlock 8890? - GSM-Forum

Hi!

Is it possible to unlock a Nokia 8890? I have the Dejan Flasher cable and software, but I can't find any files to flash it with?

that's the hard part... get an open line 8890 with same firmware and back it up.....

Yes, it is hard ! But I unlock all xx90 phones, most new xx90 phones cannot be unlocked by Dejan

i TRIED HAD NO LUCK. aS FAR AS i AM aWARE YOU CAN'T USE ON PCN NETWORK IN UK...nOT FOUND ANY BINFILEZ..

i have been looking itto this as i have a 8890 to be3 unlocked but as far as i know 8890 are only on bt cellnet and voda if i are wrong please tell me if you can unlock them to all networks can you please tell me how to do it

Hi,

8890 works only on GSM 900 which in UK is...Vodafone & Cellnet. Of coarse on GSM 1900 in US etc.

But its not a question of unlocking....its not a software issue its a hardware issue...

So no your 8890 can't work on 121 or Orange or any GSM 1800 network!

Try swapping it for an 8850 with someone ...8890 are more expensive but not as good for use in the UK as its single band here!

Which SW version do you have from 8890?
I have a 8890 v12.05, too and it is open for all providers.

I have a Nokia 8890 Ver. 12.07 locked by US operator Powertel!
I also have another 8890 V12.07 unlocked (directly bought from Nokia), I compared two flash files, two flash files from 0 to 140000 (Dejan 200000 to 340000) are exactly same!
I believe Nokia 8890 phone cannot be unlocked by Partial flash!
I know one guy (in this forum) can unlock all these US/Canada phones (5190/6190/3390/8290/7190/8890), but I don't know how he unlock these phones. After his unlocking, all flash files keep same! I guess all solution we know from here, not work for these phones!
