Member: 4205 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 9 | Update 3310 4.xx to 5.xx - can it be done? Some says it can be done, other says it can't... I've tried it myself - I couldn't :-( I have a 3310 with v4.35 and I could without problems update it to v4.45 - but when I tried to update it to 5.13 the phone looses network after half a minute or so. I just use Dejan Flasher to update and Logger 1.7 and Teks FAID-calculator to... yes, calculate FAID :-) What's your experiences? Member: 3165 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | You still can't upgrade to versions 5.xx using the calculator by TeK. Same goes to other models/versions whose unlocking method is by changing the Network Code to FFFFF. Check other posts. Seems like the problem with the Dejan 1.04 software before. Maybe l8r, lets w8 and see.
regards, aCe |

Member: 7866 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 4 | Yes, you can upgrade from v4.xx to v5.xx with
Original Wintesla, Dejan Box, Neelix JIC Box
etc... 'Non-Free' devices.
The free solution (logger and calculator) is not
100% working (actually it is not working !) on
some newer Nokia DCT-3 phone with new Flash ROM
and firmware (or upgrade an older phone with
new firmware, new firmware is using Full Flash
Checksum technique) !!!
I don't understand why people are willing to take
the risk for 'Experiment' a Nokia phone rather
than buying a reliable device by a very very
little money. Member: 7866 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 4 | Hi dofie, The answer is YES, provided you have a 'Working
Dejan Dongle' (you build yourself or bought from
someone). I am not sure a Dejan Dongle which build with the
free Dejan HEX is 100% working for upgrading the
3310 from v.4xx to v.5xx, at least, I am using
a Dejan Dongle with 'NON-FREE' HEX is working
100% on this upgrading. (You need to unlock the phone again after you
upgraded the 3310 from v4.x to v5.x if your 3310
is a 'SIM LOCKED' phone and is being unlocked by
partial flashing method at v4.x) Cables |

Member: 7653 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 823 | this is how i see it but it may be wrong
problem: the free log calculator must be using the MCU checksums in the FAID calculation, this is why the new nokia MCUs with added checksums are not getting the correct FAID returned by the calculator.
solution: whoever writes these "original" log calculators could make a different version of the calculator that will take the checksum into account thus making it work with the new MCUs (but it wouldnt work with the old ones ). maybe a pull down menu in the calculator program to select between the two would be nice |

Member: 8396 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 2 | Hi guys, good day to all.
Just a quick observation on my part.
Ldril's Koci Logger and Tek's B-phreak's logger have updated my 5110 and 3210 to latest available version without any problem, all have very good signal reception.
With 3310, I can update my phone which is originally v4.19, to v4.45 and no problem, it has signal. Problem is I cant go beyond v4.45 (like v5.03-v.5.13) because these FAID Calculators will not give the correct FAID.
Also, with v5.xx in 3310, I noticed that MSID is changing every bootup (like when using B-phreak's logger), while phones like 3310 v4.xx, 5510 and 3210 have a "static" MSID which does not changed after reboot. I guess this would give you the clue that if the calculator is solely dependent one kind of MSID to calculate FAID, then it will not work with a "dynamic" MSID in 3310 v5.xx.
Yes a 3310 v4.xx to v5.13 can be done, but not with the free FAID calculators. I did my upgrade using bRAD's free service last time (bRAD gave me 100% working logs all the time-thanks bRAD!).
I guess it leaves us with the work to find the new algo for newer versions. The most success I had with these FAID calculators is a signal right from bootup but after 1-2 sec it is gone, and yes, the phone reboots again!
I have read of "success stories" here in the boards of a 3310 v5.xx upgrade, but I think they were using logs from bRAD's free service, which came just days earlier than the FAID calculator that DavidB posted.
P.S. You cannot do a downgrade with these calculators, like say from v5.13 to v4.xx, because you will not get any signal. I guess it only work if upgrading or downgrading within the range v4.xx-v3.xx only. |
