7210 and Win 2000 IR problem - GSM-Forum

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but I could not find it. So here goes:

I have Win2000 and Nokia 7210. I wish to connect the two together. On switching the IR on in the 7210 and placing it by my laptop, the IR is detected and I get the wireless link.

However, when I load Nokia Connection Manager, I receive the following error 'No such Interface Supported'.

When the Connection Manager finally loads a message appears saying 'No phone connected'.

I only downloaded the software from Nokia yesterday so all the drivers are up to date. I uninstalled the IR driver for Win2000 and then reinstalled but still nothing.

I have fiddled around with the transfer rate as well but nothing.

So my problem is that, though both devices recognise each other, the Nokia software does not recognise the 7210.

I am at the end of my tether, any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try disabling Wireless Link in control panel, I did and it worked out fine...

Veryfi speed of IR port 115Kb max.

Thanks a lot. I will give your ideas a try. I have found that it works with Oxygen Phone Manager II without any problems.

I have tried the methods as you both so kindly suggested to no avail.

OPM was not as good as I had hoped so I am looking to resolve the PC Suite problem.

What gets me is that it worked perfectly before I uninstalled it.
Why did I uninstall? Because I got a Siemens MC 60. Used it for a week and then got rid of it and am now back to Nokia 7210.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
