Nokia CK-300 upgrade

Hi!
I have a HF-21W with old 1.290 sw which I'd like to upgrade to 1.600. Following schematics found on the web I now have a CA-138D usb cable which works nicely. The sw upgrading tool I found (NokiaCarKitSWUpgrader exe) recognizes the box, tries to connect to Nokia servers and obviously fails doing so. The exe has an option to upgrade with locally stored which just ends in an error message that locally stored sw isn't stored. Anybody have an upgrader with 1.600 included?

Answering myself...

I found the latest flash files (.bin) on this forum. Phoenix doesn't, however, recognize the unit and so far I've found no way how the CK updater could use them. Any hints would appreciated.

So I made the CA-138D cable, and the unit is visible in Windows 10 (installed NCKU in Windows 7 compatibility mode). After debugging the binary, I can see that the local update tries to find the files from

C:\Users\Username\Documents\Nokia firmware\HF-21W\0531335>

but when I place 1.600 files to this directory, the program still claims they are not found. Anyone remembers how the automatic download organized the directory? I think I'm pretty close to a successful upgrade.

Interesting, I was using a separate A2DP adapter and CK-300 only for call audio, and there was an irritating problem - the first call placed or received after connecting never reached the HF.

Now if I connect both call audio and media audio to CK-300, calling works normally. So, I may stay at 1.500 firmware level..

Hi,

Although my cable is not the most beautiful, I could send it to you after I've succeeded upgrading to 1.600.

I made the cable from the included CA-113 connector according an excellent guide by xsatquest, search CA-138D images to find it.

But how to organize the local update directory - I guess you'll face the same problem. The generic Nokia Phoenix unfortunately does not recgonize the car kit, otherwise it would have been a good alternative.

Thank you so much, Is it not possible to flash it via JAF/Other Flashing BOX?

I tried Phoenix as the HF-21W is recognized as a phone parent (unlike HF-22) but unfortunately it is not in the Phoenix database. It's now only about how to correctly place those files..

JAF flashing

I managed to get JAF running, but I'm not familiar with this method - can you provide some hints?
