How to flash 6310 and save the phonebook entries? - GSM-Forum

Phone is software dead, and I would like to flash it with Griffin. What to do to save the phonebook entries?

-Just UNcheck the "Reset To full factory settings after flash" box in the down left side of the Griffin software.

- Flash the phone now (if you know what software version was before use same version for flashing)

- The phone should power on after flashing

If you have flashed the phone with the software as before, you can stop here....
But if you want to make a clean Job and make sure the phone will work properly, or if you have flashed the phone with a different software version then before, but not resetted, the phone will power up, but will show probably software bugs.
So it is best to copy the phonebook now to the PC, fix the phones software by PPM flashing and full factory resetting, and afterwards to write back the saved phonebook from the PC to the phone.
In order to do this follow next steps

- Use Nokia Data Suite to make backup of the phonebook

- If you didn`t know what software version was in the phone before then Check the "Reset To full factory settings after flash", reflash now the PPM only, so after this the phone is full reset

- Now write the phonebook back with Nokia Data Suite

I tried uncheck ty full reset button, phonebook erased...
no solution ?

- If you uncheck the reset ... box, then 100% the phonebook will NOT be erased.

- But it happens on software dead phones that the phone erases the phonebook when it goes dead, and thenb you can`t save the phonebook anymore..
