N6230i insert SIM card

My 6230i died today and spent 3 or 4 hours reading...... Now I will try to ask your guys as you seems to know a bit more about cell phones than me.

I think there's a problem with the SIM IC as it says Insert SIM card when power on. SIM is working fine.

1. Can't I access the phone without a SIM? I can make emergency calls, so the phone is not completely dead

2. Is there a chance that I can get my data out? (100's of phone numbers, the only contacts for a large group ) I think there must be an internal flash memory module or similar? I it possible to move the memory from one 6230i to another?

It appeared suddenly, no warning what so ever. I have tried a full clean of all contacts but no result. Even a little violence but nothing helps

Please help or give me some tips that I can work with
I have circuit diagrams and access to another 6230i for spareparts

Best regards

I have used that SIM for over a year in that cell...

But now it says "Insert SIM card" black on white as I wrote in #0

Sorry if it wasn't clear. When I turn it on with (working) SIM, "insert SIM card" appears and I can get no further. As if there was no SIM card

Thanks for your answer

I THINK IT'S SIM IC IS DAMAGED .IST CHECK IT WITH MULTIMETER IF U FIND ANY OF THE CONTINUITY IS MISSING THEN U HAVE TO CHANGE ITS IC .AND ALSO CHECK ITS VSIM.

OK that was also my thought, but if there was a easier way someone else would have posted it... So I must get my multimeter from home and try to check the IC

How the f¤&% can a IC be damaged like that? I think I dropped it once and the only humidity it gets is what's in my pocket

Are you angry or is your CAPS lock glued on?

Thx again, checking again tomorrow for more stuff
