8310e no service

I have a strange problem. A friend gave me an 8310e from england (orange) to try and fix. He washed it in the washing machine. I dried it out fully and cleaned the board down with isoproponal alcohol. The phone functions perfectly except for no service when trying to make calls. I also got a lone of the FM headphone set but the phone doesnt see it. I worked as an RF tech for 3 years but have no access to signal analysers now. I have not got the Fbus cable but would be able to solder vco wire onto the board. does anyone know the pinouts for this phone. Or can someone suggest a starting point for debugging. The areial looks fine but it is built into the back of the case and I dont see a way of removing it.
