Drop Signal, Causes & solutions.

hello guys., I v been working with nokias & other phones for some time now, one of the day-to-day problems that i have not been able to isolate is the drop signal on dct3 phones, sometimes it works by reheating the hagger, sometimes the PF, others by simply cleaning the board. If any of u & i am sure there are plenty, know more specific details about these issues, let's share our information so we can help each other. I am posting this not as an expert, cause i sure am not, but as a member who wants to share whatever little information that i have with the rest of u.

thank you.

I'm not an expert of NOKIA phones, but I know that the most common cause of signal dropping and distorced audio are broken balls undr BGA COBBA IC .
It's true expecially on NOKIA 3210... for other phones like 8210 and 3310/30 the cause could also be the HAGAR IC, or the TX/RX switch near the PA.

If someone knows more is welcome....

Hi!
In most cases the drop signal problem is caused by bad soldering or damaged soldering under BGA ICs. For more phones it is important to check soldering under RF ICs, DSP and power supply ICs. For Nokia this is HAGAR (SUMMA for olders), COBBA and CCONT. Be ware of overheating.
You will get best results after desolder ICs, make new balls under ICs and resolder back to PCB. For good solderings, use Philips soldering paste.
For cleaning under ICs, use methyl alchochol (poyson!!!) and for cleaning pads on PCB use orthophosphorus acid. Clean with destilated water and dry with hair dryer for at least 30 minutes.

To all I wish good luck!
Assen

6210

My signal problems were caused by the ext antenna socket on the rear of the phone. The changeover switch was faulty so i linked the socket out and it now works 100%
