The best way to find a short- you MUST have a power supply first.
1. put the voltage to 0 on the power supply and check it is set on the high current (usually 2A), if available
2. connect the phone board, without lcd and flexes
3. rotate slowly the voltage regulator to add voltage, the current consumption will increase, and the board will ger hot
4. check by hand, by fingers WHERE it gets hot
5. if you cant see precisely where is the hot ic, but you find the hot region, tahe the brush wet with your cleaning solution- alcohol or whatever you have and met on that region. The solution will boil on the hottest component.
