First tes for dead phones

When you get a customer and he is bringing you a dead phone, what should I test first?

Can someone please describe what are the steps to make the correct tests, should I use the avometer?

Please help, this could be a very good thread!

First ask the customer first what happen to the phone, but surely some of them may lie...... Very first step is by checking the battery voltage if has proper voltage to execute.... Next test the terminal if good, or use VOM for short testing. If not Short proceed to software, test if goes to local mode, if not hardware problem....

Most batteries are 3.7v, if you test using VOM in DCV10 probe it must be in 3.2V a test for a good battery..... If not battery is bad, or you can do it by shocking it via 9 volts to keep it active....Terminal testing is by putting its probe in positive and Negative pins, positive and negative may react at VOM via x1 or x10 resistance. try to reverse it, if still react unit is short, you can also use your digital power supply....

So if I put the ( - ) from the avometer on the ( - ) of the phone and the (+ ) from avometer to (+) should it give me 99,9999999999

and the oppisit 00,000000000001

Is this write or wrong for a good working phone without short?
