u can check the value of resistor with multimeter before measuring the value u must know the calculated value ( based on color codes, numbers and in cell phone u use component descriptions) . when u measure the value with multimeter its called measured value . now u have check the difference between with calculated value & measured value depending upon tolerance ( + or - 2%, 5% or 20%) depending upon resistor. e.q if u 100k resistor its value could be 95k or 105k ( +/- 5%) if under measuring value it give value more or less with in tolerance ( e.g 100k shows 120k value or 100k shows 80k then u have replace it. i hope u understand.
