Nokia E66 – fix for phone does not switch on problem

SYMPTOMS
Phone does not start up when pressing power key. When pressing the power key
notification light and display backlight wake up. Vibra makes one jog. Phone will take 230mA but nothing else happens. After 30 seconds phone will power off.

HOW TO FIX
1) Flash E6_blank_504KB_pmm_10.fpsx file to phone with firmware update:

select E66_blank_504KB_pmm_10.fpsx into Image field and
empty other fields

2) Flash the whole SW package to phone with firmware update

3) Run factory settings

Phone should work now.

Note! This file does not fix other issues such as if phone starts to test mode but not to normal mode. Also this file should not destroy undamaged device.

E66 audio and front camera is not working after main flex is changed
This problem can be solved by flashing a new Dynamic Camera Configuration (DCC) file to the phone.

SYMPTOMS
Front camera is not working after main flex is changed. This happens because there are two different vendors for the front camera and both require a separate DCC file.

HOW TO FIX
After flex has been changed reflash the phone SW to the phone. This should normally update the correct DCC file and the front camera should working. If the camera is still not functioning properly, follow this procedure:

1.Shut down Phoenix Service SW

2.Remove current DCC files from folder:

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\DataPackage\Products\RM-494\
- dcc_986_3MVGA_DAWN_2008.09.30.01.fpl
- dcc_986_3MVGA_DAWN_2008.09.30.01.zip

3. Save following .zip and .fpl files to folder:
c:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\DataPackage\Products\RM-494\ dcc_986_3MVGA_DAWN_2009.01.28....dcc_986_3MVGA_DAW N_2009.01.28....

4. After files have been copied, start Phoenix => Go to Testing => Camera configuration

5. Press “read” button to read current camera ID and then press upload to write new DCC file to the phone.

Short Battery Life / Battery Drains Fast

for RM-84, RM-99 & RM-180 (n70&n72)

For short battery life issues:
Place phone on a dummy battery and take a current reading whilst the phone is in idle mode. Idle
mode is where the backlight is off, the phone displays a bar across the display with the time and date
on it. The current reading should be less than 5mA. If it is greater, switch the phone off and take
another current reading. This should be in the region of a couple of hundred uA.
If the current reading is incorrect in both 'idle' and 'off' modes it could be that some capacitors have
gone leaky, allowing current to pass.
Replace C2301 & C4201 22uF 6v3 capacitors.
If current reading is incorrect in only 'idle' mode, replace C4200 & C2302 6v3 capacitors

E71 phone does not start up

SYMPTOMS
Phone does not start up when pressing power key. When pressing the power key notification light and display backlight wake up. Vibra makes one jog. Phone will take 230 mA but nothing else happens. After 30 seconds phone will power off. With Phoenix you can't get connected to the phone. You can update phone software but it doesn't help anything. Phone doesn't start to test mode in Phoenix.
Note! This file does not fix other issues such as if phone starts to test mode but not to normal mode. Also this file should not destroy undamaged device.

HOW TO FIX

1) Flash E71_blank_504KB_pmm_10.fpsx file to phone with firmware update:
Firmware Update-> Options -> select E71_blank_504KB_pmm_10.fpsx into Image field and empty other fields

2) Flash the whole SW package to phone with firmware update

3) Run factory settings

Phone should work now

OK I solved problem and no need to move any file and delete nothing only install phoenix ultimate release 2009_4_12_v2 and install ultimate release of Rm-343, after put phone in test mode and read configuration camera and read Id if all ok you see read ok and id number after press upload and you receive a message of upload success make the same for 1 and 2 and after problem is solved. If reading id is failed probably your flat cable or camera have problem replace it and try.
