N82 Another Dead Camera

Hi everyone. I have an N82 with V30 firmware installed. For some reason the camera has stopped working. When I open the slide for the camera cover the camera application starts but I get a black viewfinder and the blinking flash charging icon comes up and stays on (blinking). The blinking icon according to the user manual means the flash capacitor is charging. I tried turning the flash off as well as switching to video mode but the viewfinder stays black and the camera shutter button is unresponsive.
So far I've done all the resets as well as flashing the firmware again. I've also formatted the flash card.
The camera was bought in Kuwait but I'm in Canada now and I don't think Nokia will honor the warranty here in Canada.
There have been many posts regarding dead cameras on the N82 and I'm beginning to think that the N82 has a tendency to suffer from camera problems. The constant blinking flash charging icon leads me to believe that there is a defective charging capacitor or the flash itself. The problem with that theory is that it still does not work with the flash off or with video mode selected which would not require the use of the flash.
After reading the many common problems that people have had with n82's camera I have not found any solutions other than bringing it in to a Nokia service center.
Can anyone tell me if they have had their camera repaired or fixed themselves and what was the solution?
