Member: 16856 Status: Offline Sonork: 1582037 Thanks Meter: 441 | Why have we got people who always suggest to flashing the phone ?? There is absolutely no need to flash software to fix a water damaged or oxidised phone !!! Worse yet, you can kill the phone for good doing that if error happens during the flash procedure (erase/write) ! Beware, next time if any LCD is broken , some people 'll probably advice you to flashing it BR Max_B |

Member: 16856 Status: Offline Sonork: 1582037 Thanks Meter: 441 | If phone gets contact with moisture : First thing to do ask to customer when did it happen ? One hour ago ? One Day ago ? More than a one day ? What is the fault customer is describing ? No sound, no display, no network, reboots, completely dead ... Warn the customer the phone might getting dead during the repair work !!! Hit a rusty nail with a hammer can break it Did the customer removed battery asap or if he didn't ? if not then repair will be harder to perform because of burn inside. (electricity + water + metal) Did it been drown into water ? Sea water ? Coca cola ? Toilet water ? Because if it's sea it's probably dead, Coca colas sugar has to be cleaned with water first, if toilet then take care of yourself Now about the repair steps : First dismantle all the phone Remove all stickers, keyfoils if need, flexes, cameras, shieldings ... Make visual inspection if partial oxidation or general, is it white sulfate or is there some rust ? If sugar drink damage then clean with water because alcohol can't do nothing against it, so clean with water + brush + rag on round tweezers. Once sugar is cleaned rinse all the water with alcohol to dissipate water. If water damage then clean with alcohol, isopropanol or good board cleaner . Maybe the fault is already fixed so check it now ! If not you need do rework with flux and good solder with hot air and with soldering iron at places where there are visible black signs of burn on contacts. Don't forget to clean the flux ! If you have the schematics you can check continuity of tracks that matters to the reported fault, so you could make jumpers if that. If short circuit you can put power on to the board and check what is heating when high current consumption. Anyways if phone is still powering on, try to make as less repair as possible because it's very easy to get a brick trying to do more than you have to. In fact it's a chitty job that only few percents could finish as a success ! So don't make too much and good luck !!! BR Max_B |
