Nokia 7110 - "Contact Service"- problem

Hello to all,

Nokia 7110 was felt (dropped) on the floor.

After that it shows "contact service".

Anybody sugestions what is the problem?

Can something like that cause errors in software of the phone. Is it smart to try flash it (full flash - upgrade)?

Thank you

Regards,

nicos
Thank you very much, i'll be notify you and forum when i try this (first i must find hot air station ;-) ).

P.S. This is advice what i get by mail so i want to share with others:

----- Original Message -----
From: <[email protected]>
To: <[email protected]>
Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2001 10:56 AM
Subject: Try this out for 7110 .. good luck!!
> has same problem with a 3210 and 8210.
>
> it is not s/w prob.
>
> do this at your own risk. The probelm is in the CCONT BGA chip. The
> shock it received disloged some contact under it most proabably.
>
> i was lucky enough to fix mine with this method. Do this at your own
> risk!
>
> with a hot air ****er heat up board evenly for 15-20 secs. after that
> quickly cool down the board with an electronic contact cleaner spray.
> Then with a brush gently brush the board. Conenct phone back and
> hopefully contact service should be gone. If not try heating up a bit
> longer but the more you continue the risky it gets to kill the
> phone!!!
>
> WARNING!:- if u heat a lot you can kiss the phone good bye. The BGA
> chips are the most delicate.
>
> Good luck.. u ll need it
>
> best regards
> alv

Just CCONT faulty, not COBBA. Reball or change CCONT!

I'd try to flash it first before I even open the phone.

If cant be solved by flash, then go ahead and open it up.

Regards,
