Nokia 8800 keypad fault after liquid damage

Hi

I've got a liquid damaged 8800. I have cleaned it. Keys all work fine with no sim in. If a sim is used the keypad does not work but keypad tones can be heard when the buttons are pressed

Any clues guys??
