Nokia 9300 No Ring - GSM-Forum

Hello -

I'm new to this forum & not a techie, but thought I may be able to get some suggestions for my phone problem.

I inherited a near-new Nokia 9300 and absolutely cannot get the thing to make any sort of ringing, beeping, etc. sounds at all. Been through the NORMAL - SILENT & VOLUME settings but no results. I can turn on keyboard clicks, but that is through earpiece. Even the Nokia intro music won't play. It takes & makes calls just fine & all else works great, but no ring can be made to happen.

My friend had reformatted the phone to remove his personal info using the CNTRL-SHIFT-F & says phone was working fine. No reason to doubt otherwise. I get it, install SIM card & no sound. I did the CNTRL-SHIFT-F & tried to install the only file on the Nokia site for reformat and kept getting this message about failed installation:
Program: sw_pclkd
reason code: KERN-EXEC
reason number: 3

I figure that there is something screwed up in the software but I haven't a clue what to do about it. This phone is in great shape & is practically new - no abuse. Anybody have any ideas what I can do (if anything) before sending it off to Nokia for a fix?
