Member: 12660 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 7 | Here's what I got regarding this As our valued customer, we would like to bring the following issue to your attention. Nokia has today issued a product advisory for the Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries produced for Nokia by Matsu****a between December 2005 and November 2006. This product advisory does not apply to any other Nokia batteries. Nokia and Matsu****a have identified that in very rare cases the batteries subject to product advisory could potentially experience overheating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. Nokia is working closely with Matsu****a and will be cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate this situation. The Nokia consumers who are currently using a Nokia product containing a battery from the suspect group can request a replacement for any BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory. To help concerned customers determine if their battery is subject this advisory, Nokia asks them to call Nokia customer service at 086-11-NOKIA to provide their battery identification number and mailing address. Where applicable, we will send a replacement battery with instructions on how to return the old battery. Nokia has a multi-supplier strategy for batteries, including the BL-5C. The product advisory is therefore not applicable to the vast majority of BL-5C batteries manufactured between December 2005 and November 2006. Neither does today’s product advisory concern any Nokia products being shipped today. In order to minimize any impact on your sales channel, we are implementing the voluntary BL-5C battery replacements by directing all consumers to our contact centers 086-11-NOKIA or to our dedicated online support www.nokia.com/batteryreplacement. We urge you to refer all customer queries to these dedicated channels. |
