Member: 247232 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 17 | Hi sir I just want to know what temperature I need to reflow the board. thankxxxx ================================================== =============== Sorry I don know the real actual temperature! Even I can tell you, your reading and my reading will be different because we did not calibrate our equipment! Maybe I start with some of my finding: 1) Different ****er have different charactistic, some will ramp to the temperature you set, during this ramp it will melt plastic! that is why a lot of people thought is the HOTAIR ****er cannot remove plastic connector! let your ****er to settle down for about 30 second before applying to your PCB! 2) Some ****er ramp up slowly, it will take more time to reflow your board! 3) the temperature you set on your ****er is not consistent! eg: (base on my hotair ****er)if you set the knob at 250 deg by my ****er, the temperature **** out sometime will be 270 deg (+/- 2 deg), some time 280 deg (+/- 2) deg! I got the reading by installing a externel precision themerl K type coupler! after long usage the temperature will fluatuate even more! 4) last time when i reflow 7610 CPU, it really getting me on my nerve, sometime easy to reflow, sometime so difficult to reflow, and worst sometime board bloated! 5) not until i install the external temperature sensor, i realise that the CPU always successfully reflow at 274 deg (+/- 2 deg) ( base on my reading.I increase the knob a bit, temperature slowly rasie to 280 deg, and the board bloated! when the temperature settle at 270 deg (+/- 2 deg) no matter how long i **** the CPU, it just don move! 6) Another thing i found is the temperature will slow increase bit by bit when you reflow for too long! 7) the board you trying to reflow also matter, few degree different base on my external reading! eg 6680 CPU is 280 degre for my case, 6230 CPU 260 deg, 3100 non lead free, 220 deg! etc please note my temperature reading is not calibrated! |

Member: 247232 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 17 | I think different ****er will give you different reading!, what you can do is test on damage board by increasing the temperature slowly untill you manage to reflow the IC! normally i can reflow most IC (lead free) between 270 degree to 280 degree( reading from external temperature sensor)! my setting on my ****er is ~ 250 degree on my ****er! NOTE: 1) different board have their own characteristic some are stubborn and bloat easily like 7610, 7260 etc, eg 7610 will bloat at about 280 degree! 6680 board is ok even temperature shot to 285 degree! 2) ****er temperature fluatuate! ( get a precision temperature sensor to manually adjust) a good ****er fluatuation is slight and controlling is easy! 3) use maximum air flow! 4) don use any attachment! 5) while adjusting the ****er temperature, do very slightly, big adjustment will ramp temperature up and will melt plastic or course your board to bloat! other test done: I use a temperature reader come with tornado infra red station, the reader fluatuate too much for adjustment when attach to my ****er! I'm not sure if the temperature reader is spoil or not precision! |

then you can draw one according to the space you have for the repairing . they have to include draws and place for the testing equipment you going to have such as power supply and other measuring equipment | |
