Member: 7249 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Lets talk about pic 16c625. We want to know something abou protection of data on the chip, about abillity to reprogram ucont. So what is meaning of creators of controller>
"Special Microcontroller features:"
1000000 erase/write cycle EEprom d.mem.
EEPROM data retention > 40 years.
!Programable! code protection
Special Sleep mode
"Four user programmable ID locations". Exists also in OTP version. So I think that Mr. Dejan is very smart young man.
But.. Mr.Murphy was too...
Marek
[email protected] |

Member: 6156 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 3 | About Dejan... You're talking about a man who found out how to read protected PICs in the past... He's no dumb whatsoever... But... and there's always a but... When the protected PIC has something valuable inside, it's worth to spend some money in reversing it... For instance... with proper material and knowlegde you can open the PIC, cover the code/data fuses and expose the protection fuses to UV light to restore them... there are pages describing this on the net...
This or using a microscope also makes it possible to read even a protected pic... think of an array of fuses... some ****n, some not... representing the code/data... if you know what address each fuse corresponds too... zooming, taking a picture, digitizing and scanning it can give you the contents of the PIC... providing again you have the proper knowledge and means... |
