will a USA mobile work in UK?

did not know where to put this thread so i am sorry if its in the wrong place!

A friend of mine is moving to the uk from usa and wants to know if his nokia phone will work in the uk. Does anyone know the answer? Is it just simply unlocking it?

u check the serial number it start with 01 right?

still trying to find out the serial number.......i have looked up the phone specs and it says its 850 or 1900 frequency. As far as i know uk works on 900 or 1800 frequency, is this true?

Secondly, if all the above is correct is there any possible way of making the mobile work in the uk?

the answer was, it depends upon the phone. take this as a basic tip. america is using 850 and 1900MHz frequency, while europe and other asia pacific countries are using 900 and 1800MHz. So, if the phone is triband or quadband, it would work through US and europe.

hi i am new in USA i move form south africa and i need to know if unlocking buss i working in USA i had shops in south africa to unlock phones it was good can any one plz if it works in USA? atrixj i can see you are the man in this side product supporter
