Can I read the memory of a dead A1200?

Hello everybody,
I own a A1200. I am not sure which model, but on the back it writes F056gsbf jx
It contains lots of important telephone numbers, and I could not synch it with my computer, so now I might have lost everything...

It looks dead, but before dying it got sick and the symptoms were:
-one month ago: the mobile turned off and the screen started flashing . I went back to normal after a couple of hours of taking the battery off
-yesterday night it did it again, so I took the battery off and back on, untill I gave up for a coupl of hours, and then somehow it could work properly again
-this morning is went off again, and there is now way to revive it.

Right now the phone will not start, I get stuck with a screen where you can see the Moto logo.
I am in *******, and took it to a local guy to check, and he said it was dead, that he should reinstall the software. By doing so he will erase everything, yet without that he says there is no way for him to look inside it. I am not satisfied with his answer and would like a second opinion.

I believe A1200 besically works like a computer, with a linux-like system. Do you think the software is corrupted, or the motherboard dead? how can I get those important telephone numbers back?

thank you forehand for your help!
