fixing the V600 "zoom" feature


Please try this and post result

Take a picture normal size and save it
Take a picture zoomed to the maximum 4x

Does the picture size reduce for everyone else?
does on mine

mine too. when using 4x zoom image resizes to 160x120 (and in camera settings is set to 640x480)

any suggestion?

This is normal and is to do with the fact that the sensor is only 640x480.
The zoom is a digital one and not optical.
Usually digital zoom would be disabled at larger picture settings but I guess they didn't bother.

But surely the picture saved should be the same size as when the photo was taken, even if it is stretched to fit the screen. that's my main concern about this feature.

Ah well. Waiting for the new samsung D500 to come out now.

The fact is that the sensor doesn't have enough pixels to display at 640x480 if a 4x digital zoom is used. Yes, theoretically you could stretch it but at the end of the day if you've used 4x digital zoom on a 640x480 image then you end up with a picture resolution that is a quarter of the original.
