Member: 49428 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | ***Tutorial UPDATED 01 Apr 04*** Unlocking/Flashing Motorola P2k Series I know this is only my second post. This is a helpful forum, however, I think the motorola section needs to be a bit more organized. I am new to Motorola Unlocking/ Flashing. I mod for other messageboards and understand the frustration of seein the same ques asked over and over again. The simple reply next to flaming a newb is to tell them use the search function. This is obvious for most vets but have you tried using the search? After filtering through about 100s of messages and such I find like a million different fragments of information, half the times in incoherent english. (I understand many are foreigners, I have nothing against you guys just trying to make a point). The point is, couldn't we save a lot of time, frustration, hostility, work, etc etc.. if there was one thread that was stickied about How to Unlock Motorola... You wouldnt have a bunch of newbs asking the same ques, you wouldnt have a bunch of people fuxxing up their flashes and asking whut to do. (there are like 8 post on "fuk i fried my t720 what should i do now?"). So for those of you who are vets, please please help me make this thread the one thread for newbs to goto. My reply post, to this post, will be what i have gathered from all the stuff I've read, and also quoted from whom so we know who to ask. I am not editing this original post because this is a notice I want to see if you guys agree. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! K Last edited by KaBLooMz; 04-02-2004 at 09:15. Reason: title |

I Have Tried Many With No Luck And Would Like To Be Better Informed. I Also Subscribe To Other Forums And It Seems Nokia And Sonyericsson Get The Most Response. |

Member: 49428 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | Okay Here is what I gathered so far: *** Please correct me if I am wrong. And Please Feel Free to add help me and other newbs out Thanks! *** Date: 22 March 04 Purpose: A concise (maybe stickyable thread for motorola unlocking). An alternative method to using expensive equipment to safely unlock a small number of phones. Disclaimer: I am new to this and trying to make it easier for people behind so if you nuke your equiptment/phone whatever, not my fault. This is in NO way a replacement for buying real unlock equiptment, as I take it from other threads that this is very time consuming. Materials Used: 1 x Motorola USB Data Cable 1 x Motorola T720 Fone locked to (ATT Wireless) P2K USB Drivers Get It Here !!! Motorola PST ver 6.7 General + Update Patch Find It Here !!! Passo Cracked Software ( I don't know what vers I have as I do not have win98 Installed yet, will edit as soon as I get to this step) (In the mean time, @ SPUNLOCK all links to dload passo are dead and thanks btw!!!) Motorola Service Software aka MSS 3.2.3 beta (also I take it there is a newer ver 3.4.1 but does the same thing since no way to log onto server w/o original soft) @VictorGSM ::: I appologize in advance, but reading all the post and research elsewhere, I have to agree $500-$600 for unlocking software is rediculous for a person starting this. Of course the advantage to having the real deal is support (or lack of for servers down sometimes?) and speed in unlocking. I lack the volume of locked motorola phones requiring service to justify buying your equipment atm, of course, cost wise if I do get enough motorola business it would benefit me to get the real deal so I unlock faster. I already wasted numerous hours searching numerous threads and webpages for support (the cost of my cheapness). Okay on with unlocking: Operating System Used : Win98SE & WinXP_SP1 Part I: Setting Up The Drivers (Credits yubandit and moffet9 ) Step 1 Install your version of of PST by changing the compatability of it, simply right click on your installer, go to properties, click on the tab compatability, click "run this program in compatavility mode for" choose either Windows 2000(tested), or Windows 98/ME(untested), click ok. *Note if you try to install PST without changing the compatability it won't install! and don't RESTART!* Step 2 Now connect your USB Data Cable to your phone and run PST, your computer will now try to install the drivers for use with PST and it won't work. Now comes the more complex part, look in the device manager and under Universal Serial Bus and you will see !USB Composite Device or something to that effect, "!" denoting the drivers aren't installed. **Just look for the "!"**. Now exit out of that, we just wanted to make sure that it was there. Step 3 click start/Run typed regedit Step 4 open Hkey_Local_Machine\System\controlSet\Enum\USB right click USB folder click permissions.. under everyone look for permissions for everyone window tick allow for full control and Read. Step 5 After that you need to look under USB tag (registry) for folders like Vid_xxx&Pid_xxxx expand it look and click 5&28f8fc34&0&1 folder look for Service REG_SZ usbccgp and modify to usbhub . **Note the 5&28f8fc34&0&1 folder may be different depending on if you have your phone installed using differet USB port and more but never the less you want modify the tag for which ever ONE has the control folder, we don't modify this folder until the next step . The one with the control folder is the one you want to modify. This step is critical and if you don't do it nothing else after this step will work. You will know when you found the folder because it will have in it the Motorola USB Modem or something to that effect but it will have Motorola.** (okay here is where I got really lost, could not find Service REG_SZ usbccgp, i even did Find command for that string, no luck. So I Skipped to the end and used Alternate Method) Step 6 Inside the branch, that we were just working with, is the folder, with the name "Control", in it is the parameter " ActiveService " - we change its value to usbhub. Step 7 Exit out of the registry Step 8 Disconnect you usb cable from your phone Step 9 Restart your computer now Step 10 Launch PST, Win XP will now as you where should it look for drivers it is going to install about 5 devices just tell it to look in the directory that you installed PST in or just have it search and install automatically. (Alternate Method) Goto Motorola USB Drivers Download. Download and unpack the USB Drivers. Plug phone into datacable then plug into PC. It will load asking for drivers, point it to /Program Files/Motorola/PST. It will install like 5-7 different drivers. Driver process now complete!!! (I still dunno how and what to use PST for, I just know the drivers are needed for right now) The whole point here is to install the drivers. Drivers should be installed in both win98 & winXP. Part II : Flashing The Correct Files 1. Run Motorola Service Software 3.2.3 2. Make sure Mode: (bottom left corner) is set to USB if using USB Cable and Serial/Com if using the serial cable. 3. Click "Read Phone" button to see if software is communicating with phone. 3a. If not check connections, restart software and "Read Phone again" 3b. Be patient, sometimes it takes more than 10 secs wait. *** Precautionary Measure Here *** With everything new involving flash, I try to backup as much as possible first!!! 4. Click on EEPROM Tools tab. 5. Select "Read display settings from phone" then save to backup name with default extensions. Now do the same for everything else that is readable (logo, wap, eeprom, battery) and save... 5. Now click on Flashing Module tab. 6. Flash File : Here you want to browse and find : T720_G_05.05.20R_unlock_edition.vfl get here or here or find here 7. Go down and select "Search" button, it will display devices found (in this case T720) 8. Now select "Flash Phone" It will say phone flash complete or something when its done. Now one of many things can happen. Depending on your phone ver, it may either Turn On like normal, blink blue when you turn on, or Turn on with sound and blue picture, or black screen hehe. If phone turns on normal goto Part III if you see nothing or doesnt turn on goto part IV Last edited by KaBLooMz; 04-01-2004 at 18:50. Reason: more info |

You can start by reading the rules... http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=121908 I know this sounds harsh... but you and the others like you asking for lock codes have pretty much made this whole section so much harder to search... There really is no easy way out man... unless you got $$$ for the software, otherwise read old posts and do a search. I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to flash the right way and I read like numerous different ways to unlock... and I ask a question and still get ignored... so go figure... buy a cable, take the risk, and try with some free software.... no free lunch my friend... This post has been read over 200 times, not a single person wants to take the time out to write a decent tutorial... everybody wants answers... and come for help when they f/u ****.... making like 20 different "my xxx phone is dead" or "here is my IMEI please email me code." Help out a lil... maybe one day you need help... Last edited by Spalato; 04-02-2004 at 00:27. | |

Member: 49428 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | Woot Woot Woot !!!! FOLKS!!!! GOOD NEWS!!!! I DID IT!!!! With some other ppl's help I did it!!! Okay... learned a lotta lessons from messing around with the flash/flex ordeal... I have fixes for just about every situation that could go wrong with flashing T720... i will update the tutorial by Fri... atm i got 2 essays to write so hold ur horses... Some of these info are old for you guys... but useful to newbs. Unlocking T720G/I = Completed Fixing Blue Screen Errors = Completed Fixing "dead" phones = Completed Flex/Flash Compatibility = Explained Fixing 900/1800 mhz to 850/1900 (for US unlockers)= Unlock without passo = Completed 1 thing not fixed... sorry Travis9... Cingular Branded.... However if you need Tmobile Branded Seem I will get by Fri. Unbranded Seem by Monday... new supplier of phones giving me refurb unlocked T720... hopefully no branded. (the Cingular .seem being passed around is a locked .seem requiring phone to be unlocked ~ie the whole passo deal~ prior to EEProm update, this would save you a few steps and fix some permlock 900/1800 phones) Honestly I only care about unlocking... at this point i give a damn about branding... but i will find that unbranded .seem I do have Cingular Branded Unlocked .seem if ppl need it... Please make a separate thread called "Cingular Branded or Unlocked .seem request) I don't want anyone flooding this thread with request nonsense... this thread should be Q/A and instructions for Unlocking P2k, specifically T720 for now... as it seems to be the problem child... any request or email links here will be ignored... the mods may not be doing their job but i will try to keep this thread clean.... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- @VictorGSM I am nowhere in position of running your business... but a suggestion. Maybe if VictorGSM would offer some free support, or guide, or tutorial, or just simple explanation of how FLEX/Flash works... not too much to give away your programming tech... but enough to have people understand... in addition to lowered prices of MSS, I'm sure u would have more supporters/customers. Think about it 100 people @ $600 ($60,000) a piece, sure you just got the big phone store market, now u leave a couple thousand small stores hunting, using ur cracks, bitching about u, lolz, why not consider 1000 people @ $200 ($200,000 u are missing out on) a piece... its not like they are out to steal your technology... u still require them to logon for updates etc... but u cut back on a lotta "theives"... get a lot more happy legit customers... why do u think they crack your ****... by now i am sure u made enough to cover for your expenses... ur cost is what the Hasp USB dongle? lolz... charge minimal fees for updates... as long as there are cellphones there will shurely be updates... ever heard of supply and demand? hands down you are good at unlocking biz, but u suck horribly at marketing my friend... And for those of u reading this thread and support my comment... reply... so this VictorGSM guy could see a point... i see a lot of ppl bitching about the price but no1 trying to point out anything to the guy.... Kab Last edited by KaBLooMz; 04-01-2004 at 10:25. Reason: inserted separator bar "-=-=-=-" lolz to those who actually read this!!! |

Member: 49428 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 45 | Part III & IV & V (NEW!!!) Part III : Getting The Subsidy Code 1. Load Win 98 if you haven't done so 2. Replace SIM in phone with one that is not locked to that phone (the sims of providers that are not working with your phone) 3. Plug cable in, if you are using USB make sure the drivers are installed. 4. Run either MSS 3.4.1 + passo in the same root directory or MSS PASSO 9.9.9 by spunlock (should be flasher.exe), this version is basically spunlock crack version with all the tools you need. ***Please don't ask why it doesn't work with 3.5.1 or above versions... apparently the HASP emulator does not work on Win98 and passo crack does not work in WinXP so quit whining!*** 5. When you are in MSS Passo 9.9.9, again always try to read your fone to see if its even detected by MSS. If its not check your connection and select the right one for you in the "Main Features" tab (either USB or Serial). 6. Now click on the "Logger" tab and keep program open 7. Explore to the root directory of MSS and run passo.exe and hit the search or buscar button. 8. You will see a stick figure move in a gay searching motion. Go take a nap or something... sometimes it takes a while... what this process is doing is it is testing out by booting and rebooting your phone and brute forcing a Subsidy code. After about 25 passes you should have the code along with a smiley face. 9. a. if you dont see gay stick man moving, go back to step 1 b. if passo does not give u code after 50, most likely there wont be a code for you. you could let it run longer but 600 becomes excessive. 10. If you finally got a code congrats! Now enter the subsidy code, it should let you continue to loading the rest of the menu. If "Wrong Code" appears try it again, if this appears you must goto step 4. No use trying to find code anyfurther. Part IV : Repairing Bad Flashes in T720 (Thanks Hakima & Tralin9) If phone resets right after boot, or just flashes on and off you must short pins 13/14 to get phone to turn on and remain on. For USB users I suggest buying an extra cable to make it a "repair cable" you do this by carefully pooping the connector apart on the cable to expose the pins that attach to your phone (on the cable mine u) usb to fone [[[[| )=====================( |E Once you open the connector ^^^^^ locate pin 13/14 What is pin 13/14? 123 456789.... 16 ( [] i i i [] i i i i i i i i i i i i i i []) <~~~~ pins at the connector / \ charger Same as on the actual fone. I suggest running a wire in the inside connector, make a small hole on the cap opposite end of the push-button release of the cable... connect one wire to pin 13 and one to 14, connect the other end to a switch if u like. Creating this wire will give u a better success rate in booting your phone to have it read in windows!!! Switch on = Short / off = Unshort For serial you can just bend a paperclip into a v and insert the two points directly on the fone where 13/14 should be. Reason is Windows detect Serial better than USB. By shorting pins 13/14 you allow the phone to turn on and maintain being turnt on. Now we are ready to "flash downgrade / fix phone" Part V : Flash Downgrade + Fix Flex 1. You will need the following files: (Victor Flash Files) T720_G_05.05.015R_full_flash.vfl T720_G_05.05.21R_full_flash.vfl (Victor Flex Files) T720_EMEA_Core_SE3843AXXXX052.vhs T720_Manufacturing_Flex_Model_GM5T0AA052.vhs You could find the files here!!! Russian site, just goto Download/Firmware/T720/T720_repair.zip 2. Unpack and remember what directory u unpacked to. Now fire up MSS 3.4.1 or 3.5.2 or latest whatever works. From this point on you will not need to use Win98. 3. Make sure phone is detected (whether USB or Serial) by pressing read in the Main Tab. Goto the "Flashing Module" tab. Browse to find T720_G_05.05.015R_full_flash.vfl and select it. Uncheck "F/C Check" Box Click on "Search" button it will give u Motorola P2K Phone in box. You are ready to flash. 4. Click on flash, wait a few minutes it will say Successfully Flashed. Now comes somewhat important part. Unplug phone from cord. Remove battery for about 30 secs and then replace battery. Boot up phone by holding onto the on button until u see blue screen. DON'T WORRY ITS OKAY!!! Phone is now updating API and could take 2 minutes. You could look on the outside LCD and see a small Motorola icon and a black bar. This usually means complete. But after 2 mins is a safe zone. 5. Now go back to step 3 and select the other flash file "xxxx21R.vfl" You don't have to pull battery out or nething. Just turn phone on when its done. Expect to see blue screen again. Now get ready to flex! 6. Make sure phone is loaded and MSS sees it. Goto Flex Tab and browse for "T720_EMEA_Core_SE3843AXXXX052.vhs" and Flex with that file. It shouldn't take too long and you might get 2 errors. Its OKAY!!! If you get alot like over 7, I suggest closing MSS and even rebooting your PC and doing the Flex procedure again. MSS is weird like that (what the hell crack software right?). Once first flex is done do the remaining manufacture_core flex. When its done remove batter for 30 secs, replace and reboot fone. 7. Power on fone! Congratulations you fixed it! If you are non-US then stop at this step. If you are using US carrier please continue to next Part !!! At this point you could goto MSS and read the info from the phone. You will see that it is not locked to any carrier and the service band is locked to 900/1800 mhz, perfect for u europeans but a problem for US. 8. (Optional: Goto Part after next to Load Java Games/Apps) Last edited by KaBLooMz; 04-02-2004 at 20:32. |

Member: 60498 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Sure, i've read, but i go nowhere with subsidy code, because i can not type in. After entering different provider's SIMCARD's PINcode, normally i can enter the subsidy code. But in this time NOT, the phone says 'contact service provider', and does not ask for subsidy code. |
