Try again with full charged batery, or clean up the charger conector on the phone.

Make sure you are using 12 voltage adapter to power up the smart clip. And also try to clean up the connectors as well.

Are you saying you use 12 volts to pwer your smartclip? I've always used 9 volt as they recommended and most times from 8 nicad aa batteries which give max 9.6volts and never had problem. I think first answer is most likely problem ie poor connections.
