V180

Hey, I just got a TRI band V180 (from T-mobile)... I know that this same phone is also sold as a quad band phone (for cingular/Att), anyone have any ideas how to make the tri-band version see the 850 range as well?

Cingular and AT&T has this unit as a triband 850/900/1900 because they
also utilize the 850/1900 bands in the USA. Tmobile only relies on 1900 in USA so they have the 900/1800/1900 version. But neither is quadband at least to my knowledge. here is Cingular link with specs.....http://onlinestoree.cingular.com/web...sPostpaid=true

Regards, JOHNNY.

just try to flex the phone nothing to loose if it doesn't work just flex back with the flex you had..

i think the hardware is capable of quad band just limited by software.

heh I have no idea where to find a flex file for the v180, anyway it's only 1 day old at this point so I'll try to avoid flexing (I hear that may void the warranty hehe). Do you think the USB cable that comes with Fuji digital cameras will fit this thing? The only reason i care about the 850 band is I travel a lot and I am wondering if I might end up roaming onto some 850 only networks... I have yet to use the phone overseas at all so the 900/1800 band is useless to me, wouldn't bother me a bit if it was removed.

edit: I see what you mean about Cingular just having the 900 Mhz band, is there an opcode for this phone that would switch it to Cingular's frequency instead of T-Mobile's? Like the T720 opcode 10*0*7 would switch it to 850/1900 instead of 1900 only...

Also how would I flex back to the T-Mobile flex that's already on it? I didn't think there was a way to back them up.

ah and finally what I was looking for... Motorola's web site is VERY slow:

For Use on Quad-Band GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 networks.

http://commerce.motorola.com/cgi-bin...nbr=1&zipcode=

AT&T phones only though, Cingular doesn't have the 1800 band on theirs.

So any ideas to make it into a quad band phone or at least get the two USA frequencies on it?

Thanks!

Cool

Here, a post on howardforums solved it for me, but it's useless because T-Mobile won't let me roam on an 850 Mhz network with their SIM anyway... maybe it will help someone though http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...hreadid=498306
