Using PST Software - Guide? - GSM-Forum

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum.

So far, I've managed to download the Motorola PST 6.7 software and copy the patched files over.

Now what?

I was hoping to find a good guide somewhere... but there are so many different phones and (apparently) so many different ways to program them.

I have two Motorola phones, a V60i, and a T720c.

Both started their lives as Verizon phones, but are now flashed to work on the US Cellular network.

I could give two sqauts about my phone. It's not color, so I don't need pictures. I don't care about special ringtones either. It's my wife's phone (T720c) that I want to edit.

She wants to put a picture of our son and me on the background. She would also like to remove the "Verizon Wireless" banner.

We already have the data cable.

I don't know if I need to the registry hack shown here because all seemed to be fine when I ran the different programs included with the PST package. (Though I didn't install the generic windows modem driver that pops up when you install the phone).

Can any of you get me going on this? Thanks in advance!

Not sure if the picture attached ok....

Here's a screenshot of the PST software. Even though I'm not getting an error message, I have a feeling the phone is not being detected.

Ok. I can get the software to work now, using the registry hack technique, but once I unplug the phone, I have to delete the registry entries in the Enum/USB folder and do it again... every time I need to plug it in. But for the amount of stuff I'm going to be doing, it's no big deal.

Now, I just need to know how to change some of the pictures on the phone. I just need to add one picture so I can change the wallpaper.

All I see in the PST Phone Programmer tool is "Customer Startup/Showdown Graphic".

I still need some help on this junk... all I want to do is load one crappy little wallpaper.

I got the PST Phone Manager to work, but that's about it. It let me read/write the Customer Startup Banner. It said it did it succesfully, and I restarted the phone. But the same old banner was there.

Would I be able to do this with Motorola Mobile PhoneTools?

Nope. Mobile PhoneTools wouldn't let me do ****. I had to manually go into the program files directory to open the media center, and anytime I tried to save anything to the phone, it said "denied by phone".

I'm guessing it has to be unlocked.

Please tell me if I'm right or not. This guessing game is ridiculous. I've never been to a forum where people were so unhelpful. I think of all the time I've put into answering newbies questions on other forums (hardforums.com, sportbikes.net, etc...), and this just disappoints me.
