Maybe best take it to your local decoder to decode if you don't know how to read the eeprom,
check the stickies for the procedure of eeprom reading.

Hi

Thanks for coming back to me. I have done a little reading of the stickies and i think I will just bin this old unit as I can buy a second hand one with a code for about the same price. Shame as just spent £10 on the ribbon cable but there we go.

Looking at this other thread it would seem that this guy managed to get a code for the same model without a eeprom reading:

/vbb/f179/old-kenwood-kdc-7060r-1953726/

Any idea how?
Thanks in advance

Jonny

You can wait for someone with kenwood database, but won't be quick.
Tho you might get lucky.. where abouts in the world are you? (Town/country)
maybe there's a local decoder here that can do it for you..

Hi

Its not urgent as I have not had a radio in the van for about a year!

I am in Cambridgeshire (PE26)

If someone does have a database that would be great as i would love to get this old unit going as it was the first headunit i ever bought when i was 17.

Vauxhall Nove 1.3SR with a massive Infinity sound system!

Many Thanks

If there's a decoder in your area they'll PM you..
I'm a bit far from you, but fingers crossed you'll get a result

Hi Billy

I tried the code you sent however it didnt work. i have double checked the SN and t is correct.

Any ideas why it wouldnt work? Could it be anything to do with the fact it has not been powered up for about 10 years?!?

Is there anything else I can do to get this old unit working again.

Thanks in advance

Jonny

Hi Billy

You are a star! Its all working a treat.

Might not be the best head unit in the world however it cost me about a months wages when i was 16 so worth a lot to me!

Thanks again

Jonny
