Member: 1283667 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 0 | Locked Philips CAR400 radio stuck in dashboard I'm probably going to sound pretty stupid, but I've never done this sort of thing before (so I have a bit of an excuse!)... Last week I bought a second-hand Astra with a Philips CAR 400 radio. I knew when I bought it that the radio was locked as the battery had apparently been changed (all that appears when the radio turns on is SAFE). I can get as far as the screen at which this code is entered (10 ----), but don't have the code. I know I need the serial number for this, but the radio seems to be firmly stuck in the dash - I've unscrewed the four grub screws and used two U-shaped metal bars (bought from a garage, so I know they're the right sort of thing), but it just won't budge. I've even asked someone at the garage to give it a try, and they couldn't get it to move either. I've got two questions, really: 1) Is it possible to retrieve an unlock code for this radio *without* needing to remove it from the dash? 2) Is it being stuck this firmly normal? It's a 12-year old car, but I can't understand why it's so hard to move! Has anybody else out there had similar problems with CAR 400s? Sorry for the lengthy post, but I'm really getting frustated and fed up with driving in silence. As it stands, I can't even fit a new radio! Many thanks for your time. |

Member: 909783 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 829 | Some think that decoding is easy their don't need decoders, whereas others think code is their right from anywhere and some think all have time to read unprofit post and spam. Let fit him somewhere. Go meet those whose job is this unless save money for new car. |
