Member: 369342 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | reaz.com, not all FOMA handsets support GSM. Actually, I think only the N900iG, M1000 and NM850iG had GSM from the FOMA range. Then there are the SIMPURE phones and the Motorola M702iG. From the "real" FOMA, that are fully exposed to marketing (being the most sold ones), only N900iG and M1000 had some kind of roaming at all. Then came the 902i- range. It had P902iS and N902iS, which could roam in W-CDMA networks (together with M702iS). No other 902i AFAIK supports GSM/"our 3G". So no GSM for SH902i. Today all that changed, though, as NTT DoCoMo introduced new models - the 903i product range with D903i, F903i, N903i, P903i, SH903i and SO903i with 3G roaming. Which means almost all FOMA 903i handsets have roaming capabilities (the One-Seg and HSDPA phones do not have roaming). So should we be waiting for any kind of unlock, it should come for SH903i, not the SH902i. shungo, only the M1000 could be unlocked AFAIK, which was a 100% copy of another Motorola model. No other DoCoMo phone has been unlocked AFAIK (there are some rumours about factory unlocked N900iGs, but I haven't seen them) |

Member: 369342 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | I think that the SH903iTV will not be unlocked as it doesn't support roaming. Although who knows until there's no unlock. Just like Vodafone JP's or SoftBank's 905SH/910SH. They don't have a network selection menu, but there's a chance that they'll decide the network through the SIM card. But as I said, there's no way of knowing before they get unlocked. And chances for such are slim for the FOMA phones, as the older ones almost didn't support GSM/W-CDMA (although FOMA is based on W-CDMA, too). So looking in retrospect, the phones will not propably be unlocked, but as the 903i series more and more support roaming, maybe we will have our ways... who knows? |
