A800 Strange phonebook fault.

I have an A800 which seems to have difficulty reading the full phonebook off any given simcard. If you try to search all names, it will not go through the whole alphabet, stopping on any random letter each time the phonebook is opened. Has anyone encountered this problem before, and if so, any ideas how to fix it? All help greatly appreciated.
