Member: 18200 Status: Offline Sonork: 100.1608286 Thanks Meter: 82 | Why MANY A800 NO DISPLAY or NO LIGHT ???? Am I the only one in this great forum that has been experiencing this fault ? Every week about 7 A800 phones come to me either no display on the main LCD (sometimes both LCD's) OR there is no light on the LCD's. On some of them, when you try to close the flip, the inner LCD glows !!!. I heard the lcd is about $100 !!!!!!!! Can we get the flex somewhere ??? OR is there another way of resolving the fault ??? Pls lets discuss. dannyogolo |

I saw on www.gsmdevice.com they call it "flex for 800" , I asked them, but somehow they could not understand, so since I was already ordering some stuff from them, I included some of it, now I am waiting to see if it is same with A800. Time consuming ??? If I can get $60 from it, man its not time consummung !!! He he he. |

Member: 11742 Status: Offline Thanks Meter: 1 | i got strips from china r bare,no components on it ,,,,and it is not impossibel but time consuming. i have nticed ,if u see vertical lines when opening flip, and display disappier ....there is problem in connector ,,it could be at both ends ,resold at the flex cable end and also on main board. do not use hot air,it will deshape plastic connector ..use a fine tiped soldering iron at mediem heat, with too hot iron u will lose the pins spring action, and they will not connect properly to main board connector. if display completly disappairs or works while opening and closing flip frequently or shows horzantel lines [highlighted, dark contrast] and the remaing display with low contrast ,,,,,then fault is in bising caps or dry sold on LCD's connector,,which connects to flex cable. apply some liquid flux on caps, resistors near lcd's connector and apply medium hot air,,,be careful ,do not bend flex while appling hot air. if all this does not work then replace flex cable. i send this solution for those, where flex cable is not easly avalible. |

paygee is correct. Here is an alternative but by using hot air. you can use hot air to **** connector. do not face the hot air noozle on the direction of the plastic connector. Turn the connector around ,face it downwards and heat the bottom side of the flex. Since it is a faulty flex, it will not hurt even if you overheat it. So long as the connector is protected. When heated enough, slowly push connector off. That way, 100% pins won't get damaged. | |
