area code problem sgh-c100 - GSM-Forum

i have a c100 that displays the network area code of where ever i am. For instance(dutch): "Regio 050". It does this although i set "no text in display". This by itself is not a big problem, but everytime it checks (sometimes double codes are displayed) the lights go on, including the keypad light, this happens very often, especially on "borderlines". It is very annoying, everybody gets stressed out when my c100 is on a conference table! Also this draws a lot of battery power.

I tried to gain control to the engineering settings, however it does not respond to the code. Is there a way to shut this off? It is not in the standard menu, i checked.

Can anybody please read this problem and comment? any suggestions would be appreciated, i still have these issues.
