Samsung L700 slow internt /EDGE - GSM-Forum

My GSM connection has EDGE availability in my area but has only speed of 1-2 KBPS when using in Samsung L700 mobile. However Speed 4-6 KBPS is gained when mobile is connected to PC. But when same SIM is used on the NOKIA 6303 the speed in mobile browser is good ranging to 16-20 KBPS.
I think there is wrong with modem of samsung L700 set. Modem version of Mobile is shp:vpp r5 2.1.1. Can I Tweak the modem or do some thing else like FLASHING the set? or any other suggestion?. Please some one help to solve the problem.

L700 has EDGE Class 10. My phone shows sign E on screen for EDGE availability but speed *****. That is why I think that modem of my set is faulty or not configured properly but I don't know how to configure or change settings for mobile modem to improve speed.
