Hello,

I have attached a picture with the same device, which was also defective on delivery. I tested it with different Widcomm versions and also with BlueSoleil.
There was never a BT device detected (tested with headset and mobile phone).

Hope this helps.

P.S. Will upload file later. Upload doesn't work.

I have a bRoadcom 2045 USB Bluetooth device. I get the device in the Device Manager OK, but there is no Icon in the System Try. I have tried to disable the Firewall without any difference. When I started to install the driver (I got the Trust Installer (v 5.6) from the CD which came with the device) and cklicked on "Install driver", I didn't get the screen "WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software 6.0.1.4900" as I should get according to the Install Papers.
I allways get the information "No Bluetooth device found". How should I fix this problem?

I have the same problem with my dongle but only in the last few weeks while I was fiddling around with different operating systems. It's a Belkin F8T009 which is also a BCM2035 chipset. The only way I can get it to work is by using Widcomm 6.0 in Vista.

If I search for any devices using WIDCOMM under XP (it came with version 3.0 but I also tried 5.1.0.4200 from Broadcom's website) it appears to scan for about 10 seconds, no devices are detected and the following messages appear in the status bar:

"Your local Bluetooth device has stopped" ... followed by the Windows USB disconnect sound
"Your local Bluetooth device is now up" ... followed by the Windows USB connected sound

I tried using the Microsoft Bluetooth stack in Vista x64 (didn't try it in XP) - it scanned for about one minute and said no devices were found. At the same time, the following message appeared in the system event log:

Level: Warning
Date and Time: 31/07/2008 22:49:20
Source: BTHUSB
Event ID: 3
Task: None
Category: A command sent to the adapter has timed out. The adapter did not respond.

I also noticed in the properties that Vista detects the dongle as a Bluetooth 2.0 device rather than 1.2, it's certainly 1.2.

I wonder if Widcomm 6.0 screwed up the firmware somehow?
