There is some confusion regarding version numbers of Widcomm suites.
This one from Lenovo is the only "true" 6.4 version, having a new installer, SMS utility and other new features. There are other newer versions by date, but the software and drivers versions are older. For example, there is a so called "6.5.0.131" version from Acer, but the suite version is actually 6.3.0.8200. You can find the actual suite version by viewing the properties of the setup.exe file.
And, it seems the official Broadcom update utility can upgrade only the sub-releases from the 6.3 suite, so it is not compatible with the 6.4 suites yet.

A new version from the 6.4 suite:
Lenovo Support - Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad
Version 6.4.0.1700

could some please post a patch or a crack for this software to be used with other generic bluetooth devices ??

Both Lenovo and Sony released version 6.4.0.2100.
The Sony version seems unbranded, but it is only for 64bit.
The Lenovo (branded) version is available only on the chinese servers, very slow...
I think I will replace the Custom folder of the Lenovo version with the Sony's folder, I hope I'll obtain an unbranded Widcomm installation. Later today...
